A weak link in the chain

This is not the strongest installment of the Sword of Truth series. I really adore this series and can generally stick with Goodkind while we go on seemingly unconnected tangents (he always weaves it all together in the end). However, in this book, it takes about 85% of the book until it starts to get good. I can understand why he thought it was necessary to introduce a particular character in such length, but I would have liked to have seen more of the characters we already know and love. So while I got through it and am now happily on the to next book in the series, I have to say that this was a bit of a struggle. Just know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and don't give up on the series because of this particular stumble.

Worst book yet

Well the good news is...it's a relatively short book. The bad news is.... The book is horrible. I would skip several pages at a time and not get lost. Yet I was still completely bored with this book. I really hope the next one is better.
I am reminded of the wheel of time series. The first few and the last few books were great...but everything in between was just a drag!

This book strays from the core characters. It's not as interesting at first because you get so caught up with the lives of Richard and Kahlan. It's totally worth reading. After finishing the book you're left with a better sense of geography and cultural differences. I found it answered many of my small questions.
